everything's coming up roses....

i don't normally like musicals... but there are a solid core of 'em that i love. if i had to pick one it's Gypsy. while i do like the original screen version, i'm not too proud to admit that i like bette midler's voice a lot in the role of mama rose.

the video clip - which'll probably get torn down soon enough on youtube - is of the best song in the whole musical with mama rose freaking out about how she could have been a star... born too soon, started too late. ah. so powerful. i never wish for a nice singing voice... i have enough sense to know I CAN'T sing, lord i wish more people came to grips with that fact... ANYWAY, the only time i wish i could sing is when i hear this song and want to belt it out. ah.
